Request Summary: Maternity questions
Request Category: Charities
| Question Number 1: Please provide the following information for each of the last three financial years (2021/22, 2022/23, and 2023/24, or the most recent three years available). For each year requested, please provide the number of maternity bookings (or births) for the Trust, so disclosure rates can be calculated (e.g. per 1,000 bookings). • The total number of disclosures of domestic abuse made to midwives within your Trust. o Please confirm the number of disclosures made in pregnancy, and how many post-birth. | |
| Answer To Question 1: Until recently maternity records were paper records and not in an electronic format. Therefore to answer the questions the Maternity service would have to manually go back through all the paper records. Unfortunately due to a manual collection of data for this information it would take over 18 hours to provide. We are, therefore, unable to answer Questions 1 to 4 and are using Exemption 12 of the FOI Act | |
| Question Number 2: • The total number of disclosures of domestic abuse made to other staff within maternity services. o Please confirm the number of disclosures made in pregnancy, and how many post-birth. | |
| Answer To Question 2: See answer in Q1 | |
| Question Number 3: • If known, of the total disclosures recorded, how many resulted in an escalation or referral, for example, to: o Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs) o other domestic abuse specialist support services o mental health services o children's social care o MARAC or equivalent multi-agency processes o police o other specialist support services | |
| Answer To Question 3: See answer in Q1 | |
| Question Number 4: If Possible, please provide a breakdown of the disclosures by any of the following demographic categories: o age group of the person making the disclosure o ethnicity of the person making the disclosure o gender of the person making the disclosure o sexuality of the person making the disclosure o disability of the person making the disclosure o immigration status of the person making the disclosure If the data is not recorded in exactly this format, we would welcome any related or approximate data that may help build a clearer picture of domestic abuse disclosures within maternity services. This dataset is intended to be compared to the NHS England Maternity Services Dashboard to ensure reporting is relative and comparative to demographics served by individual Trusts. Individual Trusts may be named in any published analysis | |
| Answer To Question 4: See answer in Q1 | |
