| Answer To Question 1: Usually a clinician would call it an active case when the patient has the appropriate clinical picture plus a positive PCR result for influenza. Usually a patient would not be active when they have clinically recovered with absence of fevers and general improvement , usually about 5-7 days after onset of symptoms depending on severity/immunosuppression/any treatment with an antiviral We use cepeid genexpert for testing for influenza at the moment using PCR | |
