| Answer To Question 1: No we do not have a specialist team. | |
| Question Number 2: What kind of Multi-agency working, if any, is utilised for woman who use illicit substances in the perinatal period? Who is involved in the multi-agency teams? | |
| Answer To Question 2: a. The majority of woman who are using illicit substances will have a referral to social care, regular meetings are held in line with the recommendation depending on which level they are being supported at. b. These will include all professionals supporting the woman, for example social worker, midwife, housing, substance misuse support services, health visitor or school nurse, if appropriate. | |
| Question Number 3: Where is treatment located for women who use illicit drugs during the perinatal period (for example, in hospital, at home, etc.) | |
| Answer To Question 3: The majority of treatment is provided by outside agency, in some circumstances they can be offered an in hospital detox for alcohol misuse for example; during postnatal admission following the birth. | |
| Question Number 4: What types of referral pathways exist into and out of the service for women who use illicit drugs during the perinatal period? | |
| Answer To Question 4: Self-refer to connect (Connect Wiltshire is a free drug and alcohol service led by Turning Point in partnership with Developing Health & Independence (DHI), Julian House and The Nelson Trust). Professionals can support the woman to self-refer to the service. Connect offer: The Connect service strikes a balance between early intervention, education, and treatment, offering free, flexible, person-centred support to Wiltshire residents of all ages. The service is made up of various elements to ensure support is available to anyone who needs it, regardless of their circumstance. This includes 1-1 support and treatment for children and adults, out-reach provision engaging with individuals both in the community, in prisons, courts and police custody, a criminal justice provision to work with individuals who are involved in substance use related crime, group work provision, access to medical interventions, inpatient detoxes and residential rehab, peer mentor support and more. The key focus of our service is to 'meet people where they are', providing tailored support in the community, with a particular focus on the rurality of Wiltshire, recognising that not everybody will be able to make the journey to a hub. Connect is innovative and adaptable, responding to local needs and ensuring that individuals can access treatment at any stage of their journey. | |
