Before deciding how to feed your baby, it can be helpful to understand some considerations around formula feeding:
If you are using formula鈥攚hether for medical reasons or personal choice鈥攜our midwife can offer guidance on paced bottle feeding, responsive feeding, and safe sterilisation techniques. You will be provided with information and support to help you prepare feeds and sterilise equipment safely.
If you choose to formula feed, please bring at least two starter packs of your preferred brand in your hospital bag (each containing six 70ml bottles and six disposable teats). These are available in most major supermarkets and online.
We support families who use formula and have a 鈥榤ilk kitchen鈥� for powdered formula. Microwave sterilisation systems are available for use, but bottles and teats are not provided. For more details, please speak with your Community Midwife.
